Obrigado began in 2018, focused on bringing traditional Portuguese design to the modern home. Graciously charmed by the history, culture, and craftsmanship of Portugal, we have dedicated ourselves to the discovery and hand-selection of artisan wares for you to embrace and enjoy for years to come.
As the proprietor of Obrigado, I reside with my partner in both California and Portugal. Mid-renovation on our home in Santo Ildefonso, we turned to local shops in Porto for authentic furnishings and homewares that appealed to a modernist eye. I found myself enamored by the country's rich design scene—an eclectic mix of culture and craft, patina and polish, and a new appreciation for the past's handmade traditions. After returning to California with an edit of goods for family and friends, I received an immediate outpouring of requests to find and source more. For two years I returned to Porto with growing shopping lists, and out of that demand, Obrigado was born.

Obrigado, or thank you in Portuguese, is our expression of gratitude to foundational Portuguese design. That timeless influence serves as the story and inspiration behind our collections, ranging from colorful ceramics to cozy merino wool homewares and serveware that begs for a gathering with loved ones.
